Jamb ready to announce cut of mark

The JointAdmissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is to annouce the cut-off points for this year’s admission exercise between Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd August, 2017.
A statement made available to The AUTHORITY on Sunday by JAMB’s spokesman, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the Board has secured the approval of the Minister of Education to hold the Policy Committee meeting where the cut-off point would be annouced.
“The meeting is scheduled to hold on Monday 21st to Tuesday 22nd August, 2017. This meeting will kick start the 2017 admission exercise.
“The policy committee would announced the cut off point for the 2017 admission exercise. All stakeholders including Vice Chancellors of Universities, Rectors of Polytechnics and Monotechnics and Provosts of Colleges of Education would be in attendance,” parts of the statement read.
The Board said it has sent to all institutions a soft copy of printout of candidates who choose to study in them and scored 100 and above in this year Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
It said this was in line with its flexible admission policy which allow institutions to determine the suitability of the candidates in compliance with all laid down rules and regulations as determined by the propriators of the institutions and approved by Senate of the various schools.
“The Board will ensure that criterion set by Senate are strictly adhere to by the institutions admission officers and no shifting of goal post in the middle of the admission exercise. This is to guarantee fairness and equity to all candidates,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the Registrar of the Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede has advised Computer Based- Test (CBT) centres owners to ensure that their centres are up to date.
The JAMB boss made this call during the foundation laying ceremony for a 500 capacity twin CBT centre in Osogbo, Osun State.
He said having suitable centres is the bedrock of conducting a smooth examination.
The 500 capacity twin CBTcentre was built by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) in compliance with presidential directive for NCC to build such centre in each senatorial district to bring the centres closer to the candidates and also ensure standard.
